GVIT believes that research should be an integral part of any academic institute to catalyze innovation in the young minds of budding engineers. We encourage our students and faculty to take up research apart from their regular academic activities. The organization provides necessary facilities for promoting basic research in various disciplines of engineering. We provide required financial support for the students and faculty to publish their work in good national and international journals / conferences. 

The current focus of research in the institute has been in the areas namely Bioinformatics, Data Mining, Production Engineering, etc. An exclusive research centre for the CSE department named CBRSD (Centre for Bioinformatics Research & Software Development) has been established on Campus that undertakes funded and collaborative research projects in the area of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.
